Wigan’s First Micro Pub :

Courtesy of Collins English dictionary
Micro pubs are a relatively new idea, the first one opened in Kent, England in 2005. It was a couple of years before others started to spring up around the country. Some micro pubs only sell beer and cider and some are tiny, they are opening in markets and empty retail shop units. Micro pubs tend to have shorter opening hours.
Doc’s Symposium was opened in August 2014 by Landlord and Landlady Chris and June Docherty as a semi retirement project after thirty years running renowned pubs and clubs in and around Wigan with the emphasis on real ales.

Unfortunately, we regret children are not allowed in the Symposium as the bar is directly in the only room we have.
Licensing laws do not allow children in the bar area and our space is too small to provide a separate room.
Children are welcome to sit outside and of course will be allowed to use the toilets.
Doc's Symposium has a warm friendly atmosphere
Open Thursday to Sunday
Children and animals are not allowed inside the bar. You are however, welcome to sit on the tables outside with them, there are blankets available.
